  • EPC's 5 Simple Party Planning Tips!

Pick a ThemeSome people really dislike the idea of a theme, but a theme doesn’t necessarily mean 80’s, big hair and leg warmers. You could simply pick a simple colour scheme, modern theme, rustic theme and of course actual themes. Choosing a theme will make the process easier because you can incorporate the theme into everything, such as food, drinks, invitation and decorations. Start Early & Set the StageOnce you have established a theme, start researching ideas online. Create a list of items you would like to purchase (compare prices – you can grab great deals online!). EPC New Year’s Eve Party Helpful Hints for a stress free Party

New Year's Eve is a great chance to have an unforgettable party. There is something about the start of a new year that seems to put everyone in a festive mood. This guide will help you throw the perfect New Year's Eve party that your friends will be talking about for years to come.

  1. Invitation - Every year, there are lots of New Year's parties, so invite guests early to make sure your celebration is well attended.

  2. Food - Light snacks, cocktails, or finger foods are the way to go on New Year's Eve, as opposed to a sit-down dinner. This will give people the opportunity to mingle with others, without restricting them to a designated seat at the dinner table.

Try to have one table for food and another for drinks. If possible, serve drinks from a separate room that is accessible from many sides — a large hall would be ideal. In addition, serve drinks from trays taken around the room from time to time.

Save Some Food for Post-Midnight There are a few good reasons to make sure you have enough food for the duration of the party, particularly post-midnight (remember, NYE parties are designed to go on longer than your normal party as the whole idea is to celebrate in the New Year!). One good reason is people who have eaten at around 8pm will, 5 hours later, be hungry again at 1am.

  • The table setting, Silver centrepieces, Party Hats, Noisemakers and Decorations - Set out serving tables that positively glow with light. Keeping colours to a minimum will enhance the effect, as will lots of candles and glass bowls of silver ornaments.

You can create an impressive display with sparkling gilded "trees" placed strategically on your serving tables and mantel. Simply wind strings of gold and silver metallic beads around tall Styrofoam cones, and secure in place with white (PVA) glue and T-pins. Attach white flowers, set trees on raised stands, and surround with candles so they will catch the light. Decorated cocktail glasses are available, but you can easily make decorations with silver wire and shiny plastic motifs sold by the bagful in craft stores.

People like to wear hats made of paper. It's a fact. And adults become quite juvenile if noisemakers are on the table

  • Festive glassware & Plates and napkins- Don't be tempted to use your good crystal — let the rest of your decorations lend sparkle to an admixture of less expensive glasses. Plan on two glasses per person to allow for ones that are broken or abandoned.

There is no reason why you should not use paper plates and napkins, decorated in silver. But show off with china coffee cups and the most glamorous serving plates you can find. Small mirrors would look great as serving trays or platters.

  • Photo's -Encourage people to take photos throughout the evening.Part of the success of a great New Year’s Eve party is creating memories, but those memories can be hard to come by when the beer and champagne really starts to flow. So encourage your guests, to use their camera phones, to snap away during the evening.

Then, next morning, get them to upload their photos to a site like Facebook and share with all your friends to create instant memories.

  • Music -Have music at your party. It makes for a more festive party atmosphere. If you can't afford a professional DJ then ask one of your guests to play DJ for the evening -- Offer a good mix of music, but, the key to success is to keep the volume down until everyone has had the chance to eat and socialize a bit. You can start cranking up the volume for dancing around 10PM or 10:30PM at most New Year's Eve parties.

Also you can ask all of your guests to give you their three favourite songs when they RSVP for the party. Create a custom CD from this list with all of your guests' favourites! Burn extra CDs for your guests with a custom cover created on your computer to give as party favours.

  • Chill out zone - NYE parties can be a test of endurance – some people have even been known to start drinking at 6pm which means they have got 6 hours to go before midnight and then another couple of hours to survive after that! Dedicate a small room to become the chill out zone. Set the music in this room to be Ibiza chill out not pumping rave.

Scatter some large comfy cushions, dot around a few bowls of nibbles, bottles of water and encourage guests to recharge their batteries in the chill out room.

  • The most important thing to remember - when throwing a New Year's bash at your place is to have a good time, relax and realize that as long as you're spending the night with close friends, it'll be memorable.

  • Don't worry too much about everyone else having fun. - When then the clock strikes twelve, the only thing you should worry about is which lucky lady you're going to kiss.

  • Make up little hangover cure packs - What better way to send your guests home to have a good night / morning's sleep and then enjoy the rest of the 1st January than present each departing guest with a little hangover cure pack;
Give your guests fun care packages in small paper totes for New Year's Day. Fill the bags with:Have a great New Year's Party, and remember, don't let others drive home drunk. - Have phone numbers on-hand for your local taxi cab companies in case some of your guests need a lift home.

    1. Eye mask for a good night’s sleep.
    2. Paracetamol or Ibuprofen to reduce the headache.
    3. A small bottle of water
    4. Vitamin C
